BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- A delegation headed by Chen Yunlin, chairman of the Chinese mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), left Beijing for Taipei at around 7:30 a.m. Monday, starting his five-day visit to Taiwan.
During the visit, Chen will meet with Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) chairman Chiang Pin-kung. The visit will focus on economic issues, Chen told reporters earlier.
Chen's Taiwan visit will be the second meeting between the leaders of the ARATS and SEF in the past 10 years. The first, attended by Chiang Pin-kung, was held in Beijing in June. Before that, the meeting between leaders of the two organizations had been suspended for a decade.

TAIPEI, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Seven industrial and commercial associations in Taiwan on Tuesday voiced support and welcome for the visit of mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) president Chen Yunlin.
The associations said in a joint statement that although different parties on the island hold different opinions about Chen's visit, the associations, concerned about Taiwan's economic development, want to express support to the authority's invitation of Chen to have dialogue.
