DOHA, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Two Chinese swimmers will get big bonus for their brilliant performances in the 15th Asian Games, Chinese swimming head coach Zhang Yadong said here on Sunday.

Wu Peng, men's 200m butterfly champion on Saturday, and Yu Rui, silver medalist in women's 400m individual medley, are the two lucky ones who will receive 100,000 yuan (12,820 US dollars).

Both created their personal best in the competitions. Wu, 19, defended his title in one minute 54.91 seconds, improving by 0.8 seconds while the 17-year-old Yu finished behind fellow Chinese Qi Hui in 4:39.51, which will put her in the fifth place in the world rankings.

"We are very satisfied with their results and they will get bonus. Wu is always full of confidence and his confidence comes from his awareness of his own ability," said Zhang. "I hope all my swimmers with a good potential can be as self-confident as he is."

"As for Yu, she did the best among all the youngsters," he said.

The Chinese swimming team, in building-up for the Beijing Olympics, has inked a new incentive policy to urge their swimmers to achieve good results.

Setting a new world record will bring the athlete 200,000 yuan (about 25,000 dollars), a personal best with 100,000 yuan while a podium finish is worth at least 10,000 yuan, Zhang said.

"We did not set a goal for the Asian Games but still, we would like to urge our athletes, both new and experienced to create great results," Zhang said.

"So if they only have podium finish without a good result, they will not get good return," he added.
