JINAN, July 10 (Xinhua) -- The family members of three Chinese nationals who were killed in an attack in northwestern Pakistan on Sunday will fly to Pakistan to collect the remains of their relatives.

The mother of Zhao Yili, the parents and a cousin of Li Zhifei, and the parents of Fan Luzhi, all from the Laiyang City of east China's Shandong Province, will fly to Pakistan as soon as possible, local government said on Tuesday.

Four Chinese nationals were attacked Sunday evening by unidentified gunmen at their workshop in Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province, and only one person, Zhao Jianguo, survived.

Zhao, wounded in his left arm, is now in a stable condition and out of danger. The self-employed Chinese, in his fifties, came to Peshawar about two years ago.

According to the Chinese embassy in Islamabad, the three dead people, all in their twenties, were Zhao's son (Zhao Yili), Zhao's nephew (Fan Luzhi), and a friend of Zhao Yili (Li Zhifei).

The Chinese government on Monday condemned the killing and urged Pakistan to uncover the reasons for the attack as soon as possible and mete out severe punishment to the criminals.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said in a statement Monday evening that the Chinese government was very concerned about the attack, and had lodged urgent representations with the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing and the Pakistani government.

Qin said in the statement that China has asked the Pakistani side to provide medical treatment to the wounded man and help repatriate the bodies of the dead, and take effective measures to ensure the safety and security of Chinese in Pakistan.
