Rescuers: Trapped coal miners in central China doing fine

ZHENGZHOU, Aug.1 (Xinhua) -- Sixty-nine miners who were trapped in a flooded coal mine in central China's Henan Province are doingfine and would be brought to the surface on Wednesday, said rescue headquarters.

The flooding occurred at around 8:40 a.m. Sunday at the Zhijiancoal mine in Shanxian county, about 200 kilometers west of Zhengzhou, capital of Henan, when 102 miners were working underground.

Thirty-three managed to escape but 69 others were trapped.

Rescue operation is going on in a tense manner.
