Taiwan October export orders rise to record high

TAIPEI, Nov 23, 2007 (AFP) - Taiwan's export orders in October rose to a record high of 32.20 billion US dollars from 30.92 billion dollars in September, the economics ministry said Friday.

The October figure represents a 17.99 percent increase from the same month a year earlier, compared with a 16.10 percent year-on-year rise in the preceding month, it said.

In the first 10 months of the year, Taiwan took in export orders worth 282.90 billion dollars, up 15.14 percent from the same period a year ago.

Meanwhile, industrial output in October rose 7.60 percent from September and was up 15.95 precent year-on-year, the ministry said.

For the first 10 months of the year, the industrial output index rose 7.02 percent, it said.
