The Organizing Committee for the Beijing Olympic Games says construction of facilities for the 2008 games is on track. All but one of the new venues will be finished by the end of the year.
The competition venues for the 2008 Beijing Olympics have been completed according to plan. The 91-thousand seat National Stadium is the only outstanding project.
Jiang Xiaoyu, BOCOG Vice President, said, "This year, the construction of the Olympic venues has been underway, running smoothly and according to plan. By the end of this year, all except the national stadium will been finished as scheduled."
Thirty-six of the 37 competition venues were scheduled for completion by December 31st.
The National Stadium, because of its exterior lattice of enormous steel beams, is scheduled to be finished by March.
Tickets for the 2008 Olympic tickets are in high demand. And BOCOG's vice president says Chinese law enforcement authorities have given ample attention to dealing with ticket scalping.
Jiang Xiaoyu said,"We have stipulated some laws since 2006 that define the unofficial sale of the Olympic tickets as against Chinese law. That provides legal bases for our law enforcement organization in fighting against the illegal sales of Olympic tickets."
