China awards science prizes

China has presented awards for technological innovation to the country's leading scientists. The award ceremony was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing Tuesday morning.

The awarding ceremony brought together top Chinese leaders, including President Hu Jintao, and prominent scientists.

China's State Science and Technology Awards are given out in five categories.

The State Supreme Science and Technology Award is the country's highest and most esteemed national science honor.

This award honors important breakthroughs in basic scientific study, with far-reaching influence.

The 2007 prize goes to Min Enze.

The 84-year-old is known as the founder of China's oil refining catalyst .

The honor is also shared by botanist Wu Zhengyi.

The 92-year-old is a renowned plant taxonomist.
