Beijing, Tianjin and four neighboring provinces have been taking various measures to improve air quality in time for this year's Olympic Games.
It's part of the government's promise to hold a "Green Olympics". Authorities in the capital have already relocated hundreds of heavy polluting businesses, and have changed thousands of coal-powered boilers into electric ones.
Neighboring provinces, like Hebei, have set up hundreds of monitoring points to measure and control real time air quality. Many provinces have banned the burning of dried crop stalks. This year, the region will work together on car emission control.
