The Ministry of Civil Affairs has announced the launch of reconstruction in areas hit by the recent snow storms.

In a national teleconference, the Ministry said disaster relief has achieved initial success, but there is a huge amount of work ahead. The Ministry said more than 350,000 houses collapsed during the snow storms.

Local governments must now present specific plans for reconstruction by the end of next month, and rebuilding should be finished before the end of June. The Ministry instructed local governments to allocate the first batch of rebuilding funds from the central government to people and areas that were most badly affected. The second batch will be released soon.
