Leconte, has dreamt of Beijing for many years, dreamt that one day he would stand on the Great Wall. Those dreams were fulfilled on his first visit to the capital, when he came to shoot his directorial piece, "Beijing Impression".
He says Monet's impressionist paintings were much on his mind when he made the Beijing film. He set out to interpret the ancient capital using an impressionist approach, hoping to capture the imagination of people around the world and draw them to the city.
