Olympic IT tower: 2008 games' communication hub

There are less than six months left before the start of the Beijing Games, and the massive Olympic building project in the Chinese capital is almost finished. The Digital Beijing Tower, also known as the Olympic IT tower, was one of many structures built well in advance of the games.

With its computer chip design, the tower is located in the Olympic Green Zone, near the "Bird's Nest" Olympic Stadium and the National Aquatic Center, also known as the "Water Cube". The Olympic IT tower will serve as the principal Olympic communication and technological support center.

Information Technology is vital for managing the complexity of the Games and relaying results in a fast, accurate and secure way to the billions of viewers around the globe. The Olympic IT tower's staffers have held about 30 test events to make sure they're ready before August.
