The Olympic subway line designed to provide easy access to the venues of the Beijing Games is entering its final stage of construction.

Bubble lights on the ceiling like an image from beneath the sea, you might think it's an aquarium, or the newly-built National Aquatics Center.

But it's actually a subway station for the new Olympic line.

In the final stage of construction, this station is one of the four stops on a brand new line in the north part of Beijing. It connects major sites of the Olympic Games, including the National Stadium and the Olympic Park. And the Olympics are featured heavily in the stations' design.

Project manager Xi Dacheng said, "We have images of cycling, equestrian, wrestling and weightlifting on the column. There are four different kinds of images on the 32 columns in this station."

Each of the stations has a different theme.Columns in this station stand as big trees stretching towards the ceiling.

But appearance is only part of the travel experience. Advanced facilities were designed to create a more convenient and comfortable journey for passengers. The seats on the new trains are heated for those cold days in winter. And disabled people can easily find their way out with the help of a track and elevator.

The 4.4 kilometer subway will begin trial runs this June, two months ahead of the Olympic games. And another new line will be added to extend Beijing's transportation network.
