Plastic bags standard gets public support

Tuesday is the deadline of public opinion collection on China's new draft of plastic bags standard. Survey shows the standards were generally supported by public. The country's quality watchdog says it will analyze the results within a week and make necessary adjustments based on the people's feedback.

Plastic bags are the major resources of China's "white pollution". It is estimated that the country consume around 3 billion plastics a day. Most of the plastic bags are non-degradable and cause pollution either be buried or fired.China has launch a nation-wide environmental drive calling for economical consumption of plastic bags and banning the production, sale and use of plastic bags thinner than 0.025 millimeters.

The country will also issue a series of measures to cut consumption of plastic bags and improve the waste handling technology.
