Beijing Olympics food safety

As the 2008 Beijing Olympics draws closer, a major concern for international visitors is food safety Olympic officials have responded to their worries.

"This is the Kinghey Food Processing Plant. It is a 2 hour drive from Beijing. Food for the summer Olympic athletes will be prepared here at this site"

The employees on the factory floor are doing their jobs with safety and efficiency in mind, and their work is being watched very closely. China's vowed to monitor the quality of the food served to the Olympic athletes. Kinghey Food is on the front line of the fight to preserve the country's reputation as a responsible and excellent host for the Summer Games.

Liu Tingqi, General Manager of Processed Pork Products, said, "The Kinghey Food Group Limited is the Fresh Pork and Processed Products exclusive supplier of the 2008 Olympic Games.It was established from the year 1993,with more than 10,000 staff working here now."

Some estimates suggest athletes, coaches, journalists, and officials will consume tons of food during the Olympics. Not just pork and other meats, but fruits and vegetables, and tens of thousands of liters of milk.

The biggest Olympic Games in history is, at the same time, putting the most pressure on suppliers to produce the freshest, best quality food to the dining room tables at the Olympic village and other venues. There will be no room for errors that could bring embarrassment to the host country.
