Four eight-year-old children from the coastal city of Tianjin have created China's youngest band. Founded two years ago, the kids' dream is to play at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.
The band comprises three boys and a girl. The group is called "2008-8" because all of the band members will turn eight this year. Their hit song "My 2008" won a popular following and recognition from Olympics authorities.
Fulfilling the dream of performing in front of an audience of billions of viewers, on August 8, won't be easy. Some of the band members have been studying music since they were three. All are working hard to polish their music skills, as well as to do well in their studies.
Guo Xinyue, drummer, said, "I am not bothered by all the training. My mum gives me four or five hours of play time everyday. I use it to practice my musical instruments."
Working together as a band benefits the children. All are from one child families, so in the band, they're learning about teamwork and sharing.
2008-8 may keep going after the Olympics - if the band members are still enjoying themselves and can keep coming up with great music for the nation's youth.
Zhu Yan, mother of Li Bochen, said, "It depends on his development. No matter what he chooses in the future, whether to continue to play music or do something else, we will support him."
Beijing Olympics has almost universal attraction for people across China. Whether young or old, people are eager to be a part of the big sports event.
