Xi Jinpin meets foreign guests

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping has met with South Africa's Foreign Minister, the chairman of NBC Universal Sports and Olympics, and the governor of Japan's Shizuoka Prefecture.

When meeting with South African Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Xi Jinping said China wants to continue high-level exchange visits and develop cooperation in various areas.

Zuma said South Africa believes ties between the two countries will get stronger.

At a meeting with Chairman of NBC Universal Sports and Olympics Dick Ebersol, Xi Jinping said China will fulfill its commitment to provide the best possible coverage of the Olympic Games.

Xi expressed gratitude to the Olympic broadcaster for their support of the Beijing Games. He said organizers of the 2008 Games have been working hard to ensure its success.

Ebersol said NBC will continue to support the Beijing Games, and it looks forward to a great and successful Summer Olympics.

During a meeting with the governor of Shizuoka Prefecture of Japan, Ishikawa Yoshinob, Xi Jinping said President Hu Jintao's upcoming trip to Japan will be a milestone for Sino-Japan relations. He said he believes President Hu's visit will deepen bilateral understanding, friendship, and cooperation. He hoped the two sides will strengthen dialogue and exchanges.

Ishikawa Yoshinobu said Shizuoka Prefecture wants to enhance cooperation and friendly exchanges with China.
