Tent kindergarten opens in Shifang

A tent kindergarten opened in the city of Shifang, on Sunday, International Children's Day.

Flowers, colorful fish, beautiful clouds and the sun, these paintings help create a more pleasant environment.

There are toys, pictures, books and bedding, and many other items to make it like a regular kindergarten.

And in the playground, children celebrate the opening.

The kindergarten is expected to accommodate 200 children. Nearly 100 are already registered, with over half coming from remote mountain areas severely affected by the quake. Parents are very much relieved.

This temporary kindergarten was donated by two kindergartens in China's north-east coastal city of Dalian. The funds were donated by children and their parents, who hope these children who have lost their homes will also have a happy Children's Day. But more importantly, they want to help them have a new beginning.
