East China's Anhui, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces have been lashed again by heavy rain. The Yangtze and Huai River areas and the Taihu Lake valley are all at risk of flooding.
Storms brought more than 100 millimeters of rain to Anhui Province on Saturday. The province has launched a blue warning and is carrying out flood prevention work.
Zhejiang Province is reinforcing reservoirs and carrying out precautionary work to ward off flooding and landslides. The water level of Taihu Lake in Jiangsu Province also exceeded the warning level by 22 centimeters on Sunday afternoon. The local flood control department has drained the water to reduce the risk of bursting. Weather forecasters say a belt of rain will swing between the Huai River valley and the area south of the Yangtze River in the coming days.
Guangdong province, which has also suffered weeks of torrential rains, saw temperatures of 37 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The temperature sparked a yellow weather warning for the province.
