NPC approves quake relief & reconstruction report

China's National People's Congress has approved a State Council report on earthquake relief and its plan for reconstruction.

The NPC Standing Committee also approved a plan by the State Council to adjust the 2008 central budget to establish a quake reconstruction fund.

The central government plans to spend three years on preliminary reconstruction. Further development of the quake-hit regions will take five years.
