BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, has dismissed suggestions that Russia was planning to offer political asylum to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. He confirmed again that the Syrian people should decide the country’s fate and seek ways to solve the crisis by a national dialogue.

Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, said, "When responsible state leaders and heads of foreign ministries are saying that there is nothing possible to do in terms of political dialogue as long as President Al-Assad remains in power, this is an invitation for radicals among the opposition to continue the armed struggle and to continue to provoke an armed response from the Syrian government."
