BHP Billiton to buy WMC for$7.3b

BEIJING, Mar. 8(Xinhuanet)-- The world's biggest mining company BHP Billiton agreed to buy nickel producer WMC Resources Ltd. for$7.3 billion, according to a Bloomberg report.

Buying WMC would make BHP the world's third-largest producer of nickel and the second-biggest producer of copper.

WMC's board of directors has unanimously recommended BHP Billiton's offer, and said they will accept the offer for their holdings.
