Qingdao to stage Asia-Europe high-level forum

JINAN, June 4(Xinhuanet)-- The 10th Asia-Europe Trade and Investment High-level Forum is scheduled to be held from July 17-19 in Qingdao, a port city in east China's Shandong province, according to the provincial foreign economic and trade department.

High-ranking officials from 39 countries in Europe and Asia are expected to attend the forum, which targets promoting trade and investment between Asian and European countries.

Twenty-five EU nations and 10 ASEAN nations as well as China, Japan and the Republic of Korea will send delegations to the forum to discuss the implementation of the guidance principles, achievedat the 2004 Asia-Europe Summit held in Hanoi, and make suggestions and take concrete actions in promoting Asian-European economic cooperation.

The senior officials attending the forum will still exchange views on regional development between Asia and Europe and make preparations for the Sixth Asia-Europe Economic Ministerial Conference to be held in the Netherlands this September.

The Asia-Europe Trade and Investment High-level Forum is held alternately in Asia and Europe annually. Enditem
