Coca-Cola plans$150 mln investment in Nigeria

LAGOS, June 6(Xinhuanet)-- The Coca-Cola Co. has announced a fresh direct investment of 150 million US dollars aimed at manufacturing and new agricultural initiatives in Nigeria.

The investment commitment was made directly to President Olusegun Obasanjo when the company's delegation visited him at the weekend in the capital Abuja, Nigeria's This Day newspaper reported on Monday.

Alex Cummings, group president of Coca-Cola Africa, said at theoccasion that the money will be directed at integrated agricultural project, under which a huge farm growing citrus and pineapple will be set up in the southern state of Edo.

The investment will also be used to set up an Aluminum can making operation for a new state-of-the-art canned beverage filling factory.

The investment is a"demonstration of our continuing commitment to Nigeria, and indeed support for the Obasanjo administration," according to Cummings. Enditem
