BEIJING, June 7-- The EU has welcomed a new step taken by Microsoft, to resolve a long-standing antitrust case between the US software giant and regulators in Brussels.
The European Commission says Microsoft has agreed to allow the development and sale of inter-operable products. The company has also recognized that a category of the information which it's obliged to disclose will be royalty-free.
The Commission said it's studying the proposals Microsoft put forward part of an effort to comply with a 2004 antitrust ruling. The company is facing the threat of fines of over 600-million US dollars.
