BRUSSELS, Aug. 5(Xinhuanet)-- The European Union(EU) has decided to start anti-dumping investigation against recordable digital versatile discs(DVD) originating in China including Taiwan and Hong Kong area.
According to the latest official journal of the EU, the EU executive European Commission received complaint on June 24 by manufacturers representing more than 60 percent of EU DVD production.
The complainants had produced evidence that imports of the discs from China have increased overall in absolute and market share terms, said the document.
"It is alleged that the volumes and the prices of the imported product concerned have, among other consequences, had a negative impact on the level of prices charged by the community industry, resulting in substantial adverse effects on the overall performance and the financial situation of the community industry," it added.
The antidumping probe can last as long as 15 months. EU officials can recommend provisional trade restrictions during the investigation. Enditem
