World economic forum's China bizz summit to be held in Beijing

BEIJING, Sept. 1(Xinhuanet)-- The World Economic Forum(WEF) will hold its 2005 China Business Summit in Beijing Sept. 9-10.

Over 600 participants from 35 countries are expected to be present.

The Summit, with a theme of"China's Next Phase of Modernization: Creating Scientific and Sustainable Solutions", will focus on such topics as yuan revaluation, bank reform, infrastructure construction, capital market, public health, IT industry, energy and real estate.

"If the working assumption is that China will quadruple its GDPby 2020, then we need to examine today those policies that aim to improve energy efficiency, the social welfare system and economic productivity," said Lee Howell, the Forum's Director for Asia.

"The scientific concept of development and a people-centered approach are two emerging policy themes that are certain to reshape the future business environment in China," he said.

Participants include Cheng Siwei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Zhang Guobao, Vice minister of National Development and Reform Commission(NDRC).

Leading Chinese executives at the forum include Sun Wenjie, President of the China State Construction Engineering Corporation,Jiang Jianqing, president of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Liu Xiaoguang, President and CEO of the Beijing Capital Group, and Yang Mingsheng, President of Agricultural Bank of China.

The forum will make public for the first time the report on"Business and HIV/AIDS in Asia: Pushing Back the Tide".

The current session is Jointly organized by the WEF and the China Enterprise Confederation. Enditem
