BEIJING, Sept. 5(Xinhuanet)-- British Prime Minister Tony Blair Monday called on the European Union(EU) and China to actively resolve the ongoing textile trade dispute in order to ensure continuous bilateral trade growth.

Blair made the remarks at the China-EU Business Summit that opened here Monday.

"As China-EU trade increases, there will be disagreement from time to time, such as the textile trade dispute," said Blair."What we should do is to resolve the problem to increase the bilateral trade."

Blair said that changes occur inevitably in a fast-developing world."These changes are not threat but opportunity!" he said.

Blair also said that China and the EU should ensure increasing political cooperation to match the growing economic cooperation. The two sides should join hands to tackle environmental issues, such as climate change.

China-EU trade has witnessed fast growth in the past 30 years. The EU has become China's biggest trading partner while China is the second largest trading partner of EU.

The growing bilateral trade will bring prosperity and job opportunities to both China and European countries, Blair said. Enditem
