BEIJING, Sept. 15(Xinhuanet)-- The PICC Property and Casualty Co. Ltd. underwrote the first batch of insurance policies for the volunteers of the 2008 Olympic Games immediately after being named the insurance partner of the organizing committee.

 The policies cover personal accidental and medical insurance for the 36 people who work as pre-Games volunteers for the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games(BOCOG).

BOCOG and PICC P&C didn't give details about the specific terms of the policies.

According to BOCOG's marketing director Yuan Bin, insurance premiums for the volunteers are paid by the BOCOG.

It is estimated that at least 100,000 volunteers will be needed for the 2008 Olympics and Paralympics.

Yin Yanhui, a senior official at the PICC P&C, said that PICC P& C will design different policies for volunteers according to their posts and work time.
