Indonesian parliament approves 2006 state budget

JAKARTA, Oct. 28(Xinhuanet)-- The Indonesian House of Representatives(DPR) agreed to enact the bill on the 2006 state budget into a law during a plenary session here Friday.

Nine of ten House factions approved the bill while former ruling party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle(PDI-P), chose to abstain.

The 2006 budget sets growth at 6.2 percent, inflation rate at 8 percent, the average rupiah conversion rate at 9,900 against the US dollar, and national oil production at 1.05 million barrels per day.

The budget assumed global oil price at 57 dollars per barrel.

"The targeted growth of 6.2 percent is realistic amid government's continued efforts to boost growth and maintain its sustainability," Finance Minister Jusuf Anwar told reporters. Enditem
