Investment in power projects sets new record
2006-01-06 07:02:19 Xinhua English
BEIJING, Jan. 6(Xinhuanet)-- China earmarked a record 92.16 billion yuan(11.3 billion U.S. dollars) on state power grid construction in the first 11 months of 2005, extending the country's power transmission lines by 12,333 kilometers.

An official with the State Power Grid Development Company said here Friday that China had increased its input on state power grid construction in recent years, targeting efforts to ease the country's tense situation in power supply.

According to the company, the Chinese government will increase its input in ultrahigh-voltage power grids in the upcoming five years and try to seek a balance between power supply and demand.

Statistics with the company show China generated 2.26 trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity in the first 11 months of 2005, a rise of 13.12 percent year on year. Enditem
