SHANGHAI, May 19 -- XINJIANG Oilfield Co said yesterday it has found a huge gas field in Karamay, with reserves of 30 billion cubic meters, Xinhua news agency reported.

The gas field, which can produce 1.47 million cubic meters of natural gas every day, will ease the supply concerns in northern Xinjiang.

The field lies south of the Junggar Basin, the company said.

The oil reserves in Junggar Basin total 8.6 billion tons, but only one-third of the reserves have been proven. Gas reserves reaching 2.1 trillion cubic meters with 100 billion cubic meters have been proven, the company said.
