Chinese major stock index up 2.92 pct

BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) -- China's share prices gained on Monday as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.43 percent, or 120.48 points, to close at 4,253.35.

The key Shanghai index, which covers both A- and B-shares listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, was traded between 4,193.31and 4,267.74 on turnover of 188.9 billion yuan (24.5 billion U.S. dollars).

The Shenzhen Component Index on the nation's smaller bourse was up 3.63 percent, or 497.39 points to finish at 14,194.6 on turnover of 100.6 billion yuan (13.1 billion U.S. dollars).
