SHANGHAI, Oct. 5 -- FERRARI SpA will start selling its 430 Scuderia in China next year, banking on its latest sporty model to boost sales in the emerging luxury sports car market. The F430 Scuderia is expected to hit the Chinese market as early as February following an official launch at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November this year as its Asia debut, said Jean Todt, chief executive officer of Ferrari, in Shanghai, yesterday. Senior Ferrari officials are in Shanghai for the 2007 Formula 1 Grand Prix this weekend. The F430 Scuderia, powered by 4.3-liter V8 engine, captured the media spotlight at its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show last month. It has already received several orders from Chinese customers. "China is one of our new markets with fastest growth over the past two years," said Todt. "With the new model, we are more confident of achieving our sales target for next year." High priority has been placed on China, with a shorter delivery period on offer. Todt said the F430 Scuderia would be available within six to eight months after the order. While celebrating its 60th anniversary, Ferrari extended its product line-up and has a watchful eye on Chinese mainland thanks to the country's booming economy and growing number of millionaires. The F430 Scuderia in China in addition will join other company models, including the 599 GTB, F430 Spider and the Ferrari F430. Ferrari expects to sell 160 models on the Chinese mainland this year, an increase of 33 percent from a year earlier. For the first nine months, it has already delivered 130 units. Up to 180 units is the target for the Chinese mainland next year.
