New line shortens goods transport between China, Russia
2007-10-09 03:05:19 Shanghai Daily

A NEW railway line has cut the time needed to transport goods from China to Russia by at least 10 days to about 25 days, the Xinmin Evening News reported today.

The line begins at Lianyungang's ports in Jiangsu Province, runs through the New Euro-Asia Land Bridge and ends at Moscow's ports.

It was funded and will be operated by China Shipping (Group) Company and China Shipping Container Lines.

Each train has 48 carriages that can hold 96 standard containers.

The service has a fixed time schedule and a fixed price, said the report.

A home-made giant container vessel became the first client of the line this morning as the "Xin Ya Zhou" docked at a Lianyungang port.
