China's mobile online game sales surge

BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's mobile online game market will develop rapidly from 2007 to 2010 with sales revenue growing 150 percent annually on average, according to a report by China Venture, a professional venture capital investment consulting company in China.

The mobile online game, which is based on 2.5-generation platforms like JAVA and BREW, would hit 110 million yuan (14.7 million U.S. dollars) in sales revenue this year, up more than 343times over 2006, and the figure is likely to reach 380 million yuan in 2008, said the report.

The number of Chinese mobile users who play online games via their phones would hit 16 million by the end of this year, up by 320 percent, said China Venture, who predicted the number of such subscribers would reach 154 million by 2010.

China's mobile phone users exceeded 515 million by the end of August this year, with a monthly rise of 6.8 million on average, according to statistics from the Ministry of Information Industry (MII).
