NYSE Euronext October volumes rise
2007-11-05 08:29:42 THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

NEW YORK, Nov. 5, 2007 (AP) -- NYSE Euronext Inc. said Monday that its October transaction volumes rose at both the New York Stock Exchange and its European derivatives exchange Euronext.

The exchanges operator said last month was its busiest month ever for European cash markets, with volumes higher by 61.5 percent to 30.4 million transactions.

At the NYSE Group, all exchanges reported trades of 2.7 billion shares per day, up 5.9 percent from the year-ago month. Trading volume in NYSE-listed securities added 7.9 percent to 2 billion shares a day.

NYSE Euronext shares slipped $1.10 to $89.37. The stock was under pressure after an analyst warned the company's chief executive could be poached to take over the top spot at either Citigroup or Merrill Lynch.
