US existing-home sales fell 0.4 percent in January from the prior month, providing a glimmer of relief to the embattled housing market while the median price for a home dropped for the fifth straight month, data showed Monday.
The National Association of Realtors reported an annualized sales pace of 4.89 million units, above the consensus economist forecast of 4.80 million.
