China's key stock index surges more than 4.4%

BEIJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- China's benchmark stock index rose more than 4.4 percent when half an hour of trading was left, ending a two-day losing streak.
The key Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.96 percent lower before bargain hunting pushed it up by more than 140 points to more than 3,560 points at around 14:30.
