Chinese share prices closed up 1.57 percent on Tuesday, recovering from previous heavy losses as a strong rebound in brokerages and metal stocks helped to support the market, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers A and B shares, closed up 51.68 points at 3,348.35 on turnover of 59.0 billion yuan (8.4 billion dollars).
The Shanghai A-share Index rose 54.24 points or 1.57 percent to 3,513.24 on turnover of 58.8 billion yuan. The Shenzhen A-share Index was up 20.79 points or 1.96 percent at 1,080.00 on turnover of 29.4 billion yuan.
