Wall Street opens higher as investors ponder Citi

NEW YORK -- Stocks are trading higher as results from companies like Citigroup Inc. and Google Inc. are helping ease investor anxiety about the corporate earnings season.

Investors have been worried that recent data indicates a slowing economy, which would cut into profit growth at some of the nation's biggest companies. But, results so far have shown that earnings are, for the most part, coming in within expectations.

In the first minutes of trading, the Dow Jones industrial average is up 140 points at the 12,761 level.
