Chinese shares open 1.80% lower

BEIJING, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares opening 1.80 percent lower on Monday, reacting on the market forecast that consumer price index may rise 8.5 percent in April.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, opened at 3,548.61 points, down 1.12 percent.

The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange opened at 12,869.77 points, losing 1.61 percent.

Chinese stocks declined 1.2 percent to close at 3,613.49 points last Friday, reacting to news that the producer price index had risen 8.1 percent year-on-year in April.

The National Bureau of Statistics will release statistics of CPI in April on Monday.
