Chinese shares end 0.37% up despite higher CPI rate released

BEIJING, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares climbed 0.37 percent on Monday, though the country's consumer price index (CPI) rate rebounded to 8.5 percent in April.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed at 3,626.98 points on Friday, up 13.49 points, or 0.37 percent, from the previous close.

The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 13,166.1 points on Monday, up 85.73 points, or 0.66 percent, from the previous close.
