Chinese share prices closed up 0.94 percent Friday, as financials and power stocks outperformed to lift the key index into positive territory, dealers said.

They said shares opened lower before investors were encouraged by a fall in global oil prices and continued signals from the government that it is keen to limit recent market volatility.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers A and B shares, closed up 31.92 points at 3,433.35 on turnover of 64.9 billion yuan (9.3 billion dollars).

The Shanghai A-share Index rose 33.78 points or 0.95 percent at 3,602.66 on turnover of 64.7 billion yuan. The Shenzhen A-share Index was up 3.44 points or 0.32 percent at 1,088.59 on turnover of 31.0 billion yuan.
