Chinese shares close higher on bargain hunting

BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares gained more or less Tuesday on bargain hunting, with Olympics-related, real estate and financial stocks leading the upward trend.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 1.54 percent, or 42.60 points, to 2,803.02 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 3.10 percent, or 286.80 points, to 9,525.66 points.

Combined turnover on the two bourses amounted to 75.61 (10.8 billion U.S. dollars) on Tuesday, up from 64.49 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
