Chinese shares close up 3.64 percent

Chinese share prices closed 3.64 percent higher on Wednesday as investors continued to seek bargains among blue chips after recent falls, dealers said.

Agriculture-related stocks also climbed higher on expectations of strong earnings due to rising food prices.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers A and B shares, closed up 102.00 points at 2,905.01 on turnover of 67.5 billion yuan (9.8 billion dollars).

The Shanghai A-share Index added 106.94 points, or 3.64 percent, at 3,047.53 on turnover of 67.2 billion yuan. The Shenzhen A-share Index was up 40.41 points, or 4.82 percent, at 879.24 on turnover of 33.8 billion yuan.
