Chinese share prices closed little changed Wednesday after the official media published reassurances about the future stability of the stock market ahead of the Olympics, dealers said.
Sentiment improved a little after an official Xinhua news agency commentary Wednesday said China's stock market was still on track for stable, healthy development as the country's economic fundamentals remained sound, traders said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, closed flat, up 0.12 points at 2,651.73.
The Shanghai A-share index was flat, up 0.02 points to 2,781.11 points, while the Shenzhen A-share index jumped 8.96 points, or 1.10 percent, to 821.84.
