Chinese share prices closed up 0.81 percent on Tuesday led by airliners and coal producers despite most banks falling due to profit-taking, dealers said.
They said airlines remained strong after Air China an China Southern Airlines announced fuel surcharge hikes on international routes, offsetting losses in the banking sector.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, closed up 22.55 points at 2,814.95 on turnover of 87.5 billion yuan (12.8 billion US dollars.)
The Shanghai A-share index gained 23.67 points or 0.81 percent to 2,952.45 on turnover of 87.3 billion yuan, while the Shenzhen A-share index rose 11.39 points, or 1.28 percent, to 899.10 on turnover of 44.7 billion yuan.
