Chinese share prices closed up 0.76 percent on Monday led by green energy developers in a cautious session ahead of the release of key economic data this week, dealers said.

Demand for stocks in companies developing hydro and solar power was up amid the continued rise in world oil prices, traders said.

But analysts said the rebound was unlikely to continue given nervousness ahead of the release of China's key economic data for the second quarter, including June inflation data, on Thursday.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, closed up 21.62 points at 2,878.26 on turnover of 59.5 billion yuan (8.7 billion dollars).

The Shanghai A-share index added 22.82 points, or 0.76 percent, to 3,019.11 points on turnover of 59.3 billion yuan, while the Shenzhen A-share index rose 12.02 points, or 1.33 percent, to 913.95 on turnover of 32.3 billion yuan.
