Chinese share prices were mixed at midday Tuesday with Shanghai down 0.33 percent as investors collected profits on oil refiners after crude prices rose overnight in New York, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, lost 9.57 points to finish the morning at 2,851.84.
"Investors are also cautious after (the) last two sessions' sharp rises in the general market given the uncertainties in global and domestic economy," Zhou Lin, an analyst with Huatai Securities, told Dow Jones Newswires.
The Shanghai A-share index was down 10.08 points, or 0.34 percent, to 2,991.48 points, while the Shenzhen A-share index gained 2.30 points, or 0.26 percent, to 896.76.
