Chinese shares close 0.48% lower on weak confidence

BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares ended 0.48 percent lower on Wednesday, on weak confidence from both individual and institutional investors.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.48 percent or 13.64 points, finishing at 2,836.67 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 9,715.79 points, down 0.78 percent, or 76.08 points.

Combined turnover dropped to 77 billion yuan (about 11 billion U.S. dollars) from 90.9 billion yuan over the previous close.
